James Milner is Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research involves applied mathematical modelling of environmental interventions/policies and their impacts on human health, with a particular focus on climate change mitigation actions in urban areas. James currently works on the project ‘Complex Urban Systems for Sustainability and Health’ (CUSSH) funded by the Wellcome Trust. The project is aiming to develop evidence to bring about transformative change in cities to address imperatives for population and planetary health. James leads a health impact evaluation of the Irish Government's ‘Warmth and Wellbeing’ scheme, which is providing home energy efficiency upgrades to people in parts of Dublin who are in energy poverty and are living with chronic respiratory conditions. He also contributes to the Lancet Countdown, an initiative tracking global progress on climate change and health.
